The most exciting game of round 23 in the NBL took place in Wulguru. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of second-ranked Perth Wildcats (16-11) to third ranked Townsville Crocodiles (16-10) 72-71 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Perth Wildcats. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Perth Wildcats were trailing by 6 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 16-12 charge of Townsville Crocodiles, which allowed them to win the game. They made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. Townsville Crocodiles had a 27-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international center Luke Schenscher (216-82, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Priority Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. American guard Will Blalock (183-83, college: Iowa St., agency: Priority Sports) chipped in 14 points and 6 assists. Five Townsville Crocodiles players scored in double figures. Forward Cameron Tovey (200-85, college: Augusta St.) produced 15 points and 6 rebounds and the former international power forward Matthew Knight (204-85, college: Loyola Marymount) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Perth Wildcats' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Townsville Crocodiles moved-up to second place. Defending champion Perth Wildcats dropped to the third position with 11 games lost. Townsville Crocodiles are looking forward to face Melbourne Tigers (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Perth Wildcats will have a break next round.
