Top ranked Umana Venezia (17-7) recorded its seventh loss at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by ninth ranked Tuscany Pistoia (11-13) 86-79. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Umana Venezia won third quarter 19-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tuscany Pistoia dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Umana Venezia's 24. They outrebounded Umana Venezia 41-27 including a 27-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Jarvis Varnado (206-88, college: Mississippi St.) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks. The other American import guard Joseph Forte (193-81, college: N.Carolina, agency: JEMsports) chipped in 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Tuscany Pistoia players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Bulgarian guard Kiki Clark (173-84, college: St.Peter's) who recorded 24 points and 8 assists and American guard Alvin Young (189-75, college: Niagara) added 25 points and 7 steals respectively. Despite that victory Tuscany Pistoia went down to tenth position due to points difference. Umana Venezia at the other side still keeps top place with seven games lost. They share the position with Fastweb CM. Tuscany Pistoia are looking forward to face Tezenis Verona (#13) at home in the next round. Umana Venezia will play against Mazzeo San Severo (#16) and is hoping to win this game.
