Regular Season Round 26: Santurtzi - Oviedo CB 68-72 OT

Santurtzi (#15) forced the game against Feve Oviedo (#9) into an overtime, but lost by four points 68-72. The game took place in Santurtzi. But the guests from Oviedo were better at the end. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-13. But Santurtzi won second period 19-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Santurtzi used huge pressure winning it 15-9 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 9-13. American forward Ian O'Leary (201-86, college: St.Mary's, CA) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from downtown making all five shots) to lead the effort and naturalized Venezuelan power forward Javier Roman (207-80) supported him with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Feve Oviedo's coach Alfredo Riera allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 16 points and 8 rebounds by Czech center Tomas Hampl (215-88) did not help to save the game for Santurtzi. Guard Marcos Casado (183-83) added 14 points and 4 assists for the hosts. Feve Oviedo (11-13) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Regal FC II. Santurtzi lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 18 games lost. They share it with Illescas. Feve Oviedo will play against Fontedoso Carrefour (#10) in Avila in the next round. Santurtzi will play on the road against Lan Mobel ISB (#13) in Azpeitia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
