Regular Season Round 23: 36ers - Tigers 76-79

A very interesting game took place in Findon. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 8th ranked Adelaide 36ers (8-18) to seventh ranked Melbourne Tigers (10-16) 79-76 in the fight for the seventh place. Adelaide 36ers were ahead by 7 points after three quarters before a 25-15 charge of Melbourne Tigers, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great shooting night for Melbourne Tigers especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 60.0 percentage. It was an exceptional evening for Jamaican-American guard Corey Williams (191-77, college: Alabama St.) who led the winners and scored 20 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Naturalized British guard Daryl Corletto (193-81) accounted for 22 points for the winning side. Four Melbourne Tigers players scored in double figures. Center Daniel Johnson (212-88, college: Pepperdine) came up with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 13 rebounds and the former international guard Rhys Carter (190-84) added 11 points and 4 assists respectively for Adelaide 36ers in the defeat. Melbourne Tigers maintains seventh place with 10-16 record. Adelaide 36ers lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 18 games lost. Melbourne Tigers' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Townsville Crocodiles in Wulguru and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Adelaide 36ers will play on the road against Gold Coast Blaze (#6) in Broadbeach and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
