Bottom-ranked Pioneros Los Mochis is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their sixth consecutive match to eighth ranked Bomberos de Mexicali (2-4) 94-92. It looked good early as Pioneros Los Mochis took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Bomberos de Mexicali had a 27-20 second period charge getting the lead and Pioneros Los Mochis were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 92-94. Bomberos de Mexicali made 20-of-25 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They brought some defensive toughness making 16 blocks. American players dominated the game. Guard Michael Gale (193-82, college: Centenary) scored 40 points (!!!) to lead the charge for the winners and forward James Penny (198-76, college: TCU) chipped in 20 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was swingman Nathan Sims (191-86, college: BYU-Hawaii) with 33 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and guard Detrick White (184-76, college: Mississippi St.) scored 22 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 blocks. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Bomberos de Mexicali moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Tijuana. Pioneros Los Mochis at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. They share the position with Tepic. Bomberos de Mexicali will play against league's leader Caballeros de Culiacan at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Pioneros Los Mochis will play against Tijuana Zonkeys (#7) and hope to get finally their first victory.
