Ninth ranked Unicaja Malaga won an overtime thriller against second-ranked Real Madrid by one point 69-68 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Real Madrid. The hosts were tied at the half and again at the end of regular time. But they managed to win overtime period 12-11. The best player for the winners was American guard Gerald Fitch (191-82, college: Kentucky, agency: SportsTalent) who scored 26 points and 6 rebounds. British forward Joel Freeland (208-87) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Italian-Argentinian guard Pablo Prigioni (191-77) produced 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Croatian center Ante Tomic (217-87) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Unicaja Malaga have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Fuenlabrada and Gran Canaria. Real Madrid at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. Unicaja Malaga will face higher ranked Blancos de Rueda (#4) in Valladolid in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Real Madrid will play at home against Gran Canaria 2014 in Las Palmas.
