Second Stage Round 1: Cedevita - Alkar Sinj 82-61
Date: March 19, 2011
The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Alkar Sinj (0-1) in Zagreb. Visitors were rolled over by Cedevita (1-0) 82-61. It was a key game for the top position in Group A as both teams had the same 0-0 record before this meeting. The game without a history. Cedevita led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Alkar Sinj was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Bracey Wright (191-84, college: Indiana, agency: Priority Sports) stepped up and scored 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and center Franko Kastropil (212-84) chipped in 12 points and 11 rebounds. Four Cedevita players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Ivica Radic (207-90) responded with 8 points and 12 rebounds and power forward Josko Curkovic (202-77) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Despite that victory Cedevita went down to first position (Group A) due to points difference, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Alkar Sinj still closes the standings with one game lost. They share the position with Cibona. Cedevita will play against league's leader Borik Puntamika in Zadar in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Alkar Sinj will play at home against KK Split (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
