There was no surprise when 7th ranked VOO Verviers-Pepinster (7-14) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Base Oostende (11-11) 77-60. VOO Verviers-Pepinster was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Base Oostende made 23-of-30 charity shots (76.7 percent) during the game. VOO Verviers-Pepinster was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American guard Darrel Mitchell (180-84, college: LSU, agency: Beo Basket) who led his team to a victory with 13 points and 9 rebounds. International guard Marcus Faison (196-78, college: Siena, agency: Lanshire Group) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Four Base Oostende players scored in double figures. Base Oostende's coach Jean-Marc Jaumin used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Georgian swingman Tornike Shengelia (205-91) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds and American guard Stefon Jackson (196-85, college: UTEP) added 12 points in the effort for VOO Verviers-Pepinster. Base Oostende maintains fifth position with 11-11 record. VOO Verviers-Pepinster at the other side keeps the seventh place with 14 games lost. Base Oostende will play against league's leader Spirou Charleroi on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. VOO Verviers-Pepinster will play against the league's second-placed Okapi Aalstar (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
