Another upset was a game between Peristeri GS (10-11) and Ikaros (8-13), which took place in Kalitheas. Higher ranked Peristeri GS lost to eleventh ranked Ikaros in a road game 68-74 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 74-68. It was a good game for American forward Deon Thompson (203-88, college: N.Carolina) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Kyle McAlarney (183-87, college: Notre Dame) contributed with 12 points for the winners. Ikaros' coach Aris Likogiannis used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Antiguan-American power forward Kurt Looby (208-84, college: Iowa) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and guard Evangelos Mantzaris (190-90) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Peristeri GS. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ikaros moved-up to tenth place. Loser Peristeri GS keeps the fifth position with 11 games lost. Ikaros will face higher ranked VAP Kolossos (#6) in Rodou in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
