Regular Season Round 19: AEK/Argous - Panelefsiniakos 68-63

We should mention about the upset which took place in Argous, where higher ranked Panelefsiniakos (10-9) lost to tenth ranked AEK/Argous (9-10) in a road game 63-68. The hosts were already 12 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 23-16 Panelefsiniakos' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 68-63 at the end of the game. AEK/Argous brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. 26 personal fouls committed by Panelefsiniakos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was an exceptional evening for power forward Andronikos Gizogiannis (200-83, agency: FCM) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. American-Icelandic guard Darrel Lewis (192-76, college: Lincoln, MO) accounted for 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Guard Nikos Kaklamanos (189-81, agency: FCM) came up with 25 points and 4 assists and forward Alexandros Sigounas (200-88, agency: FCM) added 4 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) respectively for Panelefsiniakos in the defeat. Panelefsiniakos' coach Giorgos Skarafingas tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. AEK/Argous moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Ermis Lagkada. Panelefsiniakos at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fifth position with nine games lost. AEK/Argous' next round opponent will be Olimpiada (#14) in Patras which should be theoretically an easy game. Panelefsiniakos will play at home against Ermis Lagkada (#8) in Lagadas.
