Very expected game when 10th ranked Proteas (5-14) lost to fifth ranked Panathinaikos (11-8) in Athens 65-69. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Panathinaikos outrebounded Proteas 36-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. Guard Maria Chalivelaki (172-79) fired 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Romanian forward Gabriela Marginean (185-87, college: Drexel) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Four Panathinaikos players scored in double figures. American guard Emily Fox (175-87, college: Minnesota) produced 15 points and 4 assists and guard Peppi Valeta (177-77) added 13 points respectively for lost side.
