Regular Season Round 19: Panathinaikos - Proteas 69-65

Date: March 19, 2011
Very expected game when 10th ranked Proteas (5-14) lost to fifth ranked Panathinaikos (11-8) in Athens 65-69. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Panathinaikos outrebounded Proteas 36-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. Guard Maria Chalivelaki (172-79) fired 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Romanian forward Gabriela Marginean (185-87, college: Drexel) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Four Panathinaikos players scored in double figures. American guard Emily Fox (175-87, college: Minnesota) produced 15 points and 4 assists and guard Peppi Valeta (177-77) added 13 points respectively for lost side. Panathinaikos maintains fifth place with 11-8 record, which they share with Panionios and FEA Neas. Newly promoted Proteas keeps the tenth position with 14 games lost. Panathinaikos' next round opponent will be higher ranked DAS Ano Liosa (#4) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Proteas will play against the league's second-placed Aris (#2) in Thessaloniki.
