Regular Season Round 19: Arkadikos - Lavrio 73-76

The most exciting game of round 19 in the A2 took place in Arkadia. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 5th ranked Arkadikos (10-9) to fourth ranked Lavrio (13-6) 76-73 on Saturday evening. The guests trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 44-34 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Lavrio made 28-of-31 free shots (90.3 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Arkadikos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Yiannis Kakiouzis (205-78) fired a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Dionysios Giannakopoulos (195-82) chipped in 20 points and 6 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!). Power forward Sokrates Gizogiannis (202-82) produced 21 points and 6 rebounds and forward Giannis Prodromou (196-87) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Arkadikos players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Lavrio moved-up to third place, which they share with Ikaroi Serron. Arkadikos at the other side keeps the fifth position with nine games lost. They share it with Apollon Patras and Panelefsiniakos. Lavrio is looking forward to face Panerythraikos (#12) in New Eritrea in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Arkadikos will play on the road against Near East (#16) in Kesariani and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
