Second Stage Round 26: Boca Jrs - Quimsa 83-72

Date: March 20, 2011
There was a small surprise in Buenos Aires where eleventh ranked Boca Juniors (12-15) defeated 9th ranked Quimsa (12-14) 83-72. The game was mostly controlled by Boca Juniors. Quimsa was better in third quarter 22-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American power forward Derrick Alston (208-72, college: Duquesne, agency: Priority Sports) notched 20 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import forward Rodney Elliott (202-76, college: Maryland) supported him with 15 points. Five Boca Juniors players scored in double figures. Even 18 points and 8 rebounds by naturalized Italian center Damian Tintorelli (204-81, agency: Players Group) did not help to save the game for Quimsa. The former international forward Diego Lo Grippo (198-78) added 13 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Boca Juniors have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain eleventh position with 12-15 record. Quimsa at the other side keeps the ninth place with 14 games lost. Boca Juniors' next round opponent will be higher ranked Libertad Sunchales (#8) on the road and it may be quite challenging game.
