Regular Season Round 19: Amarillida - Ikaros Kalitheas 57-65

Bottom-ranked Amarillida is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 19th consecutive match to fourth ranked Esperides (12-7) 65-57 on Sunday evening. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 19-10. But Amarillida won second period 17-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Esperides won last quarter 20-14. They dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Amarillida's 24. Esperides forced 22 Amarillida turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for Bulgarian center Lidia Milkova (192-70) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 13 rebounds. Forward Marianna Axiopoulou (180-84) accounted for 11 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winning side. Guard Stavroula Vrochidou (170) came up with 10 points and 6 rebounds and guard Katerina Spathari (172-81) added 12 points respectively for Amarillida in the defeat. Amarillida's coach Takis Kostopoulos rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Esperides moved-up to third place, which they share with DAS Ano Liosa. Amarillida lost their nineteenth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings. Esperides will meet at home FEA Neas (#6) in the next round. Amarillida will play against Olympiakos (#11) in Athens and hopes to get finally their first victory.
