An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Jerusalem. Second ranked Hapoel J-M faced one of their biggest challengers Bnei Hasharon. Host Hapoel J-M (14-8) defeated guests from Hod Hasharon (13-9) 99-90. Bnei Hasharon trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 27-22 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 90-99 at the end of the game. Hapoel J-M shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 58.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American guard Willie Solomon (187-78, college: Clemson) fired 25 points and 4 steals for the winners. The other American import power forward Sam Clancy (202-80, college: USC) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Hapoel J-M's coach Oded Katash used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American-Romanian swingman Dan Grunfeld (198-84, college: Stanford) produced 27 points (made all of his seven free throws) and American power forward Lee Nailon (204-75, college: TCU, agency: Basket Law/NM Services) added 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Four Bnei Hasharon players scored in double figures. Hapoel J-M maintains second position with 14-8 record having seven points less than leader Maccabi T-A. Bnei Hasharon at the other side keeps the third place with nine games lost. They share the position with Galil Gilboa. Hapoel J-M are looking forward to face Maccabi Rishon (#5) in Rishon Le-Zion in the next round. Bnei Hasharon will play at home against Hapoel Holon and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
