A very close game took place in Hod Hasharon between Hapoel Tivon and Hod Hasharon. Ninth ranked Hapoel Tivon (11-13) got a very close victory on the road over 12th ranked Hod Hasharon (8-16). Hapoel Tivon managed to escape with a 3-point win 89-86 on Tuesday evening. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. The best for the losing side was naturalized Latvian swingman Gerry Gendel (203-80) with 20 points and 6 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and American forward Stanley Brandy (200-67, college: De Paul) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. Four Hapoel Tivon and five Hod Hasharon players scored in double figures. Hod Hasharon's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Hapoel Tivon moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. Hod Hasharon lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Hapoel Tivon will meet at home Lev Hasharon (#9) in the next round. Hod Hasharon will play against the league's leader Hapoel T-A where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
