Korisliiga top team - Tampereen Pyrinto (36-7) had no problems winning another game on Wednesday. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Porvoon Tarmo (5-38) 124-51. The game without a history. Tampereen Pyrinto led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Porvoon Tarmo to just 5 points in first quarter. Tampereen Pyrinto dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Porvoon Tarmo's 30 and made 25-of-31 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game, while Porvoon Tarmo only scored three points from the stripe. Tampereen Pyrinto forced 20 Porvoon Tarmo turnovers and outrebounded Porvoon Tarmo 39-28 including a 31-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Tampereen Pyrinto especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Porvoon Tarmo's players. American forward Damon Williams (201-73, college: Colorado St.-Pueblo) fired a triple-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. Guard Antero Lehto (184-84) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Five Tampereen Pyrinto players scored in double figures. Tampereen Pyrinto's coach Pieti Poikola felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American swingman Jonathan Heard (198-86) produced 22 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and forward Eemil Oikari (196-92) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Tampereen Pyrinto. Defending champion maintains first place with 36-7 record. Porvoon Tarmo lost their eighth game in a row. Newly promoted Porvoon Tarmo stay dead last with 38 lost games. Tampereen Pyrinto will meet Namika Lahti (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Porvoon Tarmo will play against Kauhajoen Karhu in Kauhajoki and hope to secure a win.
