Rather expected game when 15th ranked Astoria (6-23) was crushed on the road by thirteenth ranked GKS Tychy (8-21) 90-68 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 90-68. GKS Tychy dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Astoria's 36. GKS Tychy forced 20 Astoria turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Guard Jacek Jarecki (197-88) stepped up and scored 27 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners and the former international guard Dawid Witos (190-83) chipped in 18 points. Four GKS Tychy players scored in double figures. Forward Dorian Szyttenholm (194-83) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and guard Radoslaw Plebanek (190-85) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. Astoria's coach Jaroslaw Zawadka gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. GKS Tychy maintains thirteenth place with 8-21 record. Astoria lost their sixth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the fifteenth position with 23 games lost. GKS Tychy will face higher ranked Olimp MKS Start Lublin (#12) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Astoria will play against Gornik in Walbrzych and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
