Regular Season Round 43: Kauhajoki - Korihait 88-78

UU-Korihait (#4) was upset in Kauhajoki by seventh ranked Kauhajoen Karhu 88-78. It looked good early as UU-Korihait took an 14-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Kauhajoen Karhu took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 10 points. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by UU-Korihait's players. Americans were the main players on the court. It was an exceptional evening for forward Jeremiah Wood (200-85, agency: Court Side) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 19 rebounds. Guard Walt Baxley (191-84, college: Mars Hill) accounted for 30 points (made all of his ten free throws !!!) for the winning side. Forward James Reaves (203-82, college: Niagara) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds and forward Lawrence Wright (195-84, college: Bradley) added 18 points and 7 rebounds respectively for UU-Korihait in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kauhajoen Karhu (22-20) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain seventh place. UU-Korihait lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with 16 games lost. Kauhajoen Karhu will play against bottom-ranked Porvoon Tarmo (#12) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. UU-Korihait will play against the league's second-placed Joensuun Kataja (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
