Regular Season Round 43: KTP - Kouvot 72-78

The game between second ranked KTP-Basket (30-13) and sixth ranked Kouvot (23-20) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. KTP-Basket was defeated by Kouvot in a tough game in Kotka 72-78. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of KTP-Basket. KTP-Basket was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 26-17 charge of Kouvot, which allowed them to win the game. 24 personal fouls committed by KTP-Basket helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for the former international forward Ville Kaunisto (204-82) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard B.A. Walker (188-84, college: VCU, agency: Pro One Sports) helped adding 20 points and 5 rebounds. Four Kouvot players scored in double figures. At the losing side Canadian forward Sefton Barrett (196-83, college: Cent.Michigan, agency: Limelight Hoops) responded with 34 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and American forward Jerald Fields (201-82, college: E.Tenn.St., agency: Lanshire Group) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Kouvot have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain sixth place with 23-20 record. KTP-Basket at the other side keeps the second position with 13 games lost. They share it with Kataja. Kouvot are looking forward to face Torpan Pojat (#8) in Helsinki in the next round. KTP-Basket will have a break next round.
