Second Stage Round 27: Atenas - GECR Indalo 90-68
Date: March 25, 2011
The game in Cordoba supposed to be also worth to mention about. 7th ranked Gimnasia CR (14-13) played at the court of eighth ranked Atenas (15-13). Atenas smashed Gimnasia CR 90-68. The game was mostly controlled by Atenas. Gimnasia CR was better in fourth quarter 19-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Atenas especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. The best player for the winners was American forward Gregory Lewis (198-78, college: Winthrop, agency: Dream Team Management) who scored 21 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Guard Miguel Gerlero (192-88) chipped in 15 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Hakeem Rollins (202-83, college: Washington, agency: Dream Team Management) who recorded 13 points and 7 rebounds and center Diego Romero (209-82, college: Florida St.) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Atenas moved-up to seventh place. Gimnasia CR at the other side dropped to the eighth position with 13 games lost. Atenas' next round opponent will be league's leader Obras in Buenos Aires and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gimnasia CR will play on the road against Quimsa (#11) in Santiado Estero.
