Eighth ranked Adelaide 36ers won an overtime thriller edging 6th ranked Gold Coast Blaze by one point 102-101 on Friday night. The game took place in Broadbeach. But the guests from Findon were better at the end. Gold Coast Blaze was tied after three quarters and then recorded another tie at the end of regular time. They were eventually defeated in overtime 4-5. It was a good game for the former international forward Jacob Holmes (201-83) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. The former international guard Rhys Carter (190-84) contributed with 20 points for the winners. American power forward Ira Clark (203-75, college: Texas) replied with 19 points and 8 rebounds and the former international swingman James Harvey (196-79, agency: Interperformances) added 20 points in the effort for Gold Coast Blaze. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Adelaide 36ers maintains eighth position with 9-18 record. Gold Coast Blaze at the other side keeps the sixth place with 15 games lost. Adelaide 36ers will face league's leader New Zealand Breakers in Auckland in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
