Bottom-ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 121-95 loss to seventh ranked Fuerza Guinda Nogales (5-4) in Los Mochis on Friday evening. The game without a history. Fuerza Guinda Nogales led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 66.7 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for Fuerza Guinda Nogales especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. The game was also dominated by American players. Power forward Robert Hornsby (196-82, college: Troy) stepped up and scored 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and swingman Bryant Matthews (201-82, college: Virginia Tech) chipped in 24 points. The best for the losing side was guard Detrick White (184-76, college: Mississippi St.) with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and power forward LaShawn Malloy (209-84, college: New Orleans, agency: Pro Management Agency) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Five Fuerza Guinda Nogales and four Pioneros Los Mochis players scored in double figures. Pioneros Los Mochis' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Fuerza Guinda Nogales moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Tijuana. Loser Pioneros Los Mochis still closes the standings with nine games lost. Fuerza Guinda Nogales will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Pioneros Los Mochis will play again against Fuerza Guinda Nogales (#5) and hope to get finally their first victory.
