Important game to mention about took place in Guasave. Fourth ranked Frayles de Guasave (6-3) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 8th ranked Bomberos de Mexicali (4-5) 88-86 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Bomberos de Mexicali. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. The game was dominated by American players. It was a good game for guard William Funn (188-82, college: Portland St.) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 8 assists. Guard Rasheem Barrett (196-87, college: Auburn, agency: SportsList Inc.) contributed with 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Funn is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Frayles de Guasave players scored in double figures. Guard Michael Gale (193-82, college: Centenary) answered with 39 points (!!!) and forward James Penny (198-76, college: TCU) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Bomberos de Mexicali. Frayles de Guasave moved-up to third place, which they share with Culiacan. Bomberos de Mexicali at the other side dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. They share it with Guaymas. Frayles de Guasave will again play against Bomberos de Mexicali (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Bomberos de Mexicali will have a break next round.
