Regular Season Round 9: Tepic - Tijuana 78-91

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Coras de Tepic (1-8) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (5-4) 91-78. The game was mostly controlled by Tijuana Zonkeys. Coras de Tepic was better in fourth quarter 31-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American players dominated the game. Forward Travis Gabbidon (201, college: UTSA) nailed 21 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and center Gene Shipley (206-79, college: Brandon, agency: Elleby Sports) accounted for 14 points and 7 rebounds. Five Tijuana Zonkeys players scored in double figures. Forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga, agency: Dream Team Management) came up with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds and guard Devon Ford (193-77, college: Idaho) added 22 points and 4 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) respectively for Coras de Tepic in the defeat. Tijuana Zonkeys have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 5-4 record, which they share with Nogales. Coras de Tepic at the other side keeps the ninth position with eight games lost. Tijuana Zonkeys will have a break next round. Coras de Tepic will play again at home against Tijuana Zonkeys (#6).
