Regular Season Round 43: Shiga L-Stars - Kyoto Hannar. 86-89

Important game to mention about took place in Shiga. Fifth ranked Kyoto Hannaryz (23-18) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 3rd placed Shiga Lakestars (23-18) 89-86 in the fight for the fourth place. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Shiga Lakestars won third quarter 28-26. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kyoto Hannaryz dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Shiga Lakestars' 44. Kyoto Hannaryz players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American players dominated the game. It was a great evening for guard Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf (186-69, college: LSU) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 4 assists. Power forward Michael Fey (213-83, college: UCLA) helped adding 11 points and 12 rebounds. At the losing side power forward Gary Hamilton (208-84, college: Miami, FL) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 16 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and forward Josh Peppers (201-85, college: Cent.Florida, agency: Court Side) scored 22 points. Five Kyoto Hannaryz and four Shiga Lakestars players scored in double figures. Shiga Lakestars' coach Haruyuki Ishibashi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kyoto Hannaryz have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Shiga Lakestars. Kyoto Hannaryz will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Shiga Lakestars will play again at home against Kyoto Hannaryz (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
