Regular Season Round 19: Sokhumi - GTU Tbilisi 98-55

Everything went according to plan in Tbilisi where fifth ranked Sokhumi (11-7) outscored 7th ranked GTU (5-12) 98-55 on Saturday. The game without a history. Sokhumi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Sokhumi forced 20 GTU turnovers and outrebounded them 45-34 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. GTU was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for guard Lasha Parghalava (191-87, college: Montana St. - Billin) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points. American guard Eugene Harris (188-86, college: High Point) helped adding 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. At the losing side forward Akaki Lomouri (198-91) responded with 17 points and 8 rebounds and forward Vasili Beruashvili (198-90) scored 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. GTU's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Sokhumi maintains fifth place with 11-7 record. Loser GTU dropped to the ninth position with 12 games lost. Sokhumi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena .
