Regular Season Round 44: Porvoon Tarmo - Kauhajoki 92-86

Bottom-ranked Porvoon Tarmo managed to get a sixth victory, breaking the eight-game losing streak on Saturday night. This time newly promoted Porvoon Tarmo won against seventh-ranked Kauhajoen Karhu 92-86. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-19. But Kauhajoen Karhu won second period 25-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Jonathan Heard (198-86) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 44 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds and forward Esa Maki-Tulokas (200-82, college: LIU Brooklyn) who added 12 points and 4 assists during the contest. Porvoon Tarmo's coach Jouni Gronroos used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Steffan Johnson (185-87, college: Idaho) responded with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and international forward Vesa Makalainen (200-86) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Five Kauhajoen Karhu players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Porvoon Tarmo maintains twelfth position with 6-38 record. Loser Kauhajoen Karhu keeps the seventh place with 22 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
