Regular Season Round 22: Kolossos - Ikaros 74-66

Very expected game in Rodou where 10th ranked Ikaros (8-14) was defeated by sixth ranked VAP Kolossos (11-11) 74-66 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Ikaros won third quarter 15-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guard Angelos Tsamis (192-81) fired a double-double by scoring 11 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Naturalized American swingman Pat Kalathis (208-85, college: St.Joseph's) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Four VAP Kolossos players scored in double figures. American forward Deon Thompson (203-88, college: N.Carolina) produced 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 blocks and his fellow American import guard Lans Harris (195-83, college: Kansas St.) added 13 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. VAP Kolossos have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Aris and Kavala. Newly promoted Ikaros keeps the tenth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Panellinios. VAP Kolossos will meet league's leader Olympiakos in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Ikaros will play against Kavala (#5) and hope to secure a win.
