Bottom-ranked Pioneros Los Mochis is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their tenth consecutive match to fifth ranked Fuerza Guinda Nogales (6-4) 110-109. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-14. But Pioneros Los Mochis won second period 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Pioneros Los Mochis used huge pressure winning it 28-25 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 11-12. Fuerza Guinda Nogales shot 35 for 49 from the free-throw line, while Pioneros Los Mochis only scored sixteen points from the stripe. Fuerza Guinda Nogales brought some defensive toughness making 12 blocks. Pioneros Los Mochis were plagued by 33 personal fouls down the stretch. Bahamas power forward Ryan Moss (200-74, college: UALR) had a double-double by scoring 30 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the charge for the winners and American swingman Bryant Matthews (201-82, college: Virginia Tech) chipped in 31 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks during the contest. Five Fuerza Guinda Nogales players scored in double figures. At the losing side American swingman Nathan Sims (191-86, college: BYU-Hawaii) responded with a double-double by scoring 47 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and his fellow American import guard Detrick White (184-76, college: Mississippi St.) scored 29 points and 4 assists. Fuerza Guinda Nogales moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Tijuana and Culiacan. Pioneros Los Mochis at the other side still closes the standings with ten games lost. Fuerza Guinda Nogales will play against Ostioneros de Guaymas (#7) at home in the next round. Pioneros Los Mochis will play against the league's second-placed Rayos de Hermosillo and hope to get finally their first victory.
