There was no surprise when 10th ranked Fontedoso Carrefour (10-15) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked Feve Oviedo (12-13) 77-65 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-65. The best player for the winners was American forward Ian O'Leary (201-86, college: St.Mary's, CA) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 16 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). His fellow American import guard Tony Tate (180-82, college: Florida A&M) chipped in 15 points. Tate is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was Latvian center Kaspars Cipruss (210-82, agency: Interperformances) who recorded 19 points and 5 rebounds and guard Xavier Lopez (191-83, college: Point Loma) added 13 points respectively. Four Fontedoso Carrefour players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Feve Oviedo. Newly promoted Feve Oviedo maintains eighth place with 12-13 record. Loser Fontedoso Carrefour keeps the tenth position with 15 games lost. Feve Oviedo will face higher ranked ADT Tarragona (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fontedoso Carrefour will play against Lan Mobel ISB in Azpeitia.
