Regular Season Round 43: Osaka Evessa - Oita H.Devils 78-69

BJ League top team - Osaka Evessa (26-15) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat seventh ranked Oita Heat Devils (16-25) 78-69. Oita Heat Devils trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 26-22 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 69-78 at the end of the game. Osaka Evessa dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Oita Heat Devils' 28. They outrebounded Oita Heat Devils 55-32 including a 41-28 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a quality performance for American forward Lynn Washington (200-78, college: Indiana) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 22 rebounds and 7 assists. Guard Hirohisa Takada (186-86) accounted for 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Osaka Evessa's coach Ryan Blackwell used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Kimitake Sato (186-84) came up with 34 points (!!!) and 4 assists and American guard Matt Lottich (193-82, college: Stanford) added 16 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals respectively for Oita Heat Devils in the defeat. Osaka Evessa maintains first place with 26-15 record, which they share with Okinawa GK. Oita Heat Devils lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 25 games lost. Osaka Evessa will again meet at home Oita Heat Devils (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Oita Heat Devils will have a break next round.
