Seventh-ranked Gran Canaria 2014 (14-13) was very close to win a game against second ranked Real Madrid (21-6) on Saturday. Real Madrid managed to secure only one-point victory 74-73. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Gran Canaria 2014. The hosts trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 22-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Real Madrid shot 21 for 28 from the free-throw line, while Gran Canaria 2014 only scored five points from the stripe. It was a good game for international power forward Felipe Reyes (203-80) who saved his team from a defeat with 15 points and 7 rebounds. International guard Sergio Llull (190-87) contributed with 19 points for the winners. American guard Jaycee Carroll (188-83, agency: Priority Sports) answered with 20 points and the other American import power forward Judson Wallace (205-82, college: Princeton, agency: Impact Basketball) added 12 points in the effort for Gran Canaria 2014. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Real Madrid maintains second place with 21-6 record having just two points less than leader Regal Barca. Gran Canaria 2014 at the other side dropped to the ninth position with 13 games lost. They share it with DKV Joventut and Estudiantes. Real Madrid are looking forward to face CB Granada (#17) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Gran Canaria 2014 will play against Blancos de Rueda (#6) in Valladolid and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
