The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Athens: Athinaikos (#1) and Panionios (#7). Athinaikos (20-0) smashed visiting Panionios (11-9) by 21 points 86-65. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Panionios. The game without a history. Athinaikos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Panionios' 34. Athinaikos forced 19 Panionios turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of international guard Dimitra Kalentzou (174-78) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and the former international guard Lolita Lymoura (180-85, agency: LBM Management) who added 15 points and 8 assists during the contest. Four Athinaikos players scored in double figures. Croatian forward Mirna Mazic (188-85, college: Richmond) responded with 25 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Kary Koch (173-83, college: Missouri St.) scored 11 points and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Athinaikos have an impressive 20-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 20-0 record. Panionios at the other side keeps the seventh place with nine games lost. Athinaikos' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Olympiakos.
