Host Musel Pikes (12-10) defeated Contern (7-15) 77-67. The game was mostly controlled by Musel Pikes. Contern was better in third quarter 19-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Musel Pikes had a 29-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American forward Trenton Wurtz (203-83, college: Indiana St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds. Polish center Tomasz Wojnowski (205-81) contributed with 14 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) for the winners. Four Musel Pikes players scored in double figures. Musel Pikes' coach Frank Baum allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Portuguese swingman David Torres (188-83) replied with 25 points and American forward Brandon Gary (202-83, college: Hutchinson CC) added 11 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Contern. Musel Pikes maintains first position in the group with 12-10 record. Contern at the other side keeps the third place with 15 games lost. Musel Pikes' next round opponent will be Black Star in Mersch. Contern will play at home against the league's second-placed Soleuvre in Belvaux and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
