Regular Season Round 23: Maccabi Ashdod - Netanya 97-89

No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Maccabi Ashdod (11-12) beat at home 8th ranked Elitzur Netanya (8-15) 97-89. It looked good early as Elitzur Netanya took an 12-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Maccabi Ashdod took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 8 points. They made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Maccabi Ashdod players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for swingman Josh Carter (201-88, college: Texas A&M) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points. Forward Lorenzo Gordon (201-83, college: Oklahoma City, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) helped adding 18 points and 10 rebounds. Five Maccabi Ashdod players scored in double figures. Guard Adrian Banks (191-86, college: NW Mississippi CC) responded with 29 points and 4 assists and guard Joe Smith (193-77, college: Al.-Huntsville, agency: Priority Sports) scored 14 points and 7 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Maccabi Ashdod moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Maccabi Rishon. Elitzur Netanya at the other side keeps the eighth position with 15 games lost. Maccabi Ashdod will play against bottom-ranked Ironi Ashkelon (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Elitzur Netanya will play against Hapoel Holon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
