Another interesting game for Unicaja Malaga (15-12) which played in Valladolid against 4th placed Blancos de Rueda (16-11). Seventh ranked Unicaja Malaga had an easy win 78-64. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Blancos de Rueda. Blancos de Rueda was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 42-27 second half run of Unicaja Malaga. They outrebounded Blancos de Rueda 35-18 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American guard Gerald Fitch (191-82, college: Kentucky, agency: SportsTalent) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 6 rebounds. British forward Joel Freeland (208-87) helped adding 15 points and 8 rebounds. Four Unicaja Malaga players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Italian-Argentinian guard Federico Van Lacke (191-80) with 17 points and Dominican forward Eulis Baez (201-82, college: W.Illinois) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Unicaja Malaga have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain seventh place with 15-12 record, which they share with Fuenlabrada. Blancos de Rueda at the other side dropped to the fifth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Bizkaia Bilbao. Unicaja Malaga will play against DKV Joventut (#10) in Badalona in the next round. Blancos de Rueda will play on the road against Gran Canaria 2014 (#9) in Las Palmas and hopes to get back on the winning track.
