CIBACOPA top team - Mineros de Cananea (9-2) managed to deliver another win on Tuesday. This time they beat ninth ranked Coras de Tepic (1-10) 85-75. Strangely Coras de Tepic outrebounded Mineros de Cananea 30-18 including 21 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Mineros de Cananea made 8 blocks. American players dominated the game. It was a quality performance for guard Davin White (186-81, college: Cal.St. Northridge) who led the winners and scored 37 points (!!!) (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Forward Derek Thomas (193-84, college: Appalachian St.) accounted for 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Five Coras de Tepic players scored in double figures. Mineros de Cananea have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 9-2 record, which they share with Hermosillo. Coras de Tepic lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with ten games lost. Mineros de Cananea will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Coras de Tepic will play again against the league's leader Mineros de Cananea (#1).
