Regular Season Round 12: Hermosillo - Los Mochis 94-101

The most important game in the last round took place in Hermosillo between second ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (9-3) and tenth ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (1-11) on Wednesday night. Rayos de Hermosillo was defeated by Pioneros Los Mochis in a tough game at home 94-101. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Rayos de Hermosillo. The guests trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 101-94. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Pioneros Los Mochis made 9 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Detrick White (184-76, college: Mississippi St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 10 assists and the other American import swingman Nathan Sims (191-86, college: BYU-Hawaii) who added 34 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Pioneros Los Mochis players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Steve Monreal (180, college: Cal.St.-Monterey) with 27 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international forward Jesus Lopez (205-83, college: SW Baptist) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Pioneros Los Mochis left bottom position moving up to ninth place, which they share with Tepic. Rayos de Hermosillo at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Pioneros Los Mochis is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Coras de Tepic (#10) at home in the next round. Rayos de Hermosillo will play against Tijuana Zonkeys (#7) and is hoping to win this game.
