Very important is a road loss of third ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (7-5) against fourth ranked Frayles de Guasave (8-4) on Wednesday night. Visiting Caballeros de Culiacan was defeated by Frayles de Guasave in Guasave 94-79. The game was mostly controlled by Frayles de Guasave. Caballeros de Culiacan was better in fourth quarter 23-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Frayles de Guasave players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Caballeros de Culiacan's players. The winners were led by American guard Rasheem Barrett (196-87, college: Auburn, agency: SportsList Inc.) who scored that evening 29 points and 5 assists and Panamanian forward Gabriel Giron (192-88) supported him with 23 points and 5 assists. Five Frayles de Guasave players scored in double figures. Even 34 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 8 blocks by American guard Kevin Sowell (190-81) did not help to save the game for Caballeros de Culiacan. Naturalized American guard Franco Harris (183-83, college: Boise St.) added 15 points. Caballeros de Culiacan's coach rotated eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Frayles de Guasave moved-up to third place. Defending champion Caballeros de Culiacan dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. They share it with Nogales. Frayles de Guasave will play against league's leader Mineros de Cananea on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Caballeros de Culiacan will play against Fuerza Guinda Nogales and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
