Second Stage Round 29: Argentino - Wuber-Est.Bahia 100-79
Date: April 1, 2011
Bottom-ranked Argentino managed to get a ninth victory, breaking the series of seven consecutive loses on Friday night. This time newly promoted Argentino outleveled sixth-ranked Estudiantes in Junin 100-79. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 21-point difference proves that Argentino was well-prepared to that game. The game without a history. Argentino led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. Argentino shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. The best player for the winners was American power forward Joseph Bunn (198-75, college: Phillips, OK) who scored 32 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Levi Stukes (188-84) chipped in 22 points and 5 assists. Naturalized Spanish guard Pepe Sanchez (193-77, college: Temple) produced 18 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and American-Spanish forward Devin Davis (202-74, college: Miami, OH) added 16 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Estudiantes' coach Jose Luis Pisani gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Newly promoted Argentino maintains sixteenth place with 9-20 record. Estudiantes at the other side keeps the sixth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Atenas. Argentino are again looking forward to face higher ranked Estudiantes (#6) in Bahia Blanca in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Estudiantes will have a break next round.
