No shocking result in a game when second ranked Penarol (19-10) defeated on the road 14th ranked Monte Hermoso (10-19) 102-91 on Friday. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 54-41 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Penarol shot 65.0 percent from the field. The best player for the winners was international forward Leonardo Gutierrez (200-78) who scored 26 points and 7 rebounds. The former international power forward Martin Leiva (208-80) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). American-Uruguayan center Reque Newsome (204-81, college: S.Indiana) produced 25 points and American power forward Byron Johnson (201-80, college: Belm.Abbey, agency: Dream Team Management) added 23 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) respectively for the hosts. Four Monte Hermoso players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Penarol. Defending champion maintains second place with 19-10 record having just two points less than leader Obras. Newly promoted Monte Hermoso keeps the fourteenth position with 19 games lost. Penarol will have a break next round. Monte Hermoso will play again on the road against the league's second-placed Penarol (#2) in Mar del Plata.
