The game in Santiado Estero was also quite interesting. Seventh ranked Atenas (16-13) played at the court of 8th ranked Quimsa (14-16). Atenas managed to secure a 6-point victory 76-70 on Friday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Quimsa. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-13. But Quimsa won second period 23-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American forward Gregory Lewis (198-78, college: Winthrop, agency: Dream Team Management) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import power forward James Williams (204-79, college: Brown Mackie, agency: Dream Team Management) chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds. Atenas' coach Sebastian Gonzalez used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Naturalized Italian center Damian Tintorelli (204-81, agency: Players Group) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and the former international guard Julio Mazzaro (190-79) scored 16 points. Four Quimsa players scored in double figures. Atenas moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Estudiantes. Loser Quimsa dropped to the tenth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Regatas C.. Atenas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Quimsa will play again against Atenas (#7) in Cordoba and hope to secure a win.
