There was no surprise when 3rd ranked Frayles de Guasave (8-6) was edged on the road by first ranked Mineros de Cananea (12-2) 100-98 on Saturday. Frayles de Guasave was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Mineros de Cananea made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Davin White (186-81, college: Cal.St. Northridge) who scored 32 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import forward Derek Thomas (193-84, college: Appalachian St.) chipped in 30 points and 9 rebounds. Mineros de Cananea's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international swingman Alonso Izaguirre (200-76) produced 25 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Rasheem Barrett (196-87, college: Auburn, agency: SportsList Inc.) added 25 points respectively for the guests. Five Frayles de Guasave players scored in double figures. They have an impressive nine-game winning streak. Mineros de Cananea maintains first position with 12-2 record.
