Regular Season Round 21: AEK/Argous - Lavrio 70-72 OT

Tenth-ranked AEK/Argous (9-12) gave a tough game to third ranked Lavrio (15-6) on Saturday. The visitors from Lavrio managed to secure only two-point victory 72-70. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 15-10 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 2-point victory in overtime. The best player for the winners was forward Yiannis Kakiouzis (205-78) who scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. Center Kostas Paschalis (208-75) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Lavrio's coach Christos Serellis used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was Croatian center Ivan Kartelo (208-79, college: Purdue) who recorded 14 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Andronikos Gizogiannis (200-83, agency: FCM) added 17 points and 7 rebounds respectively. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Lavrio. Newly promoted Lavrio maintains third place with 15-6 record having five points less than leader KAOD. AEK/Argous at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the ninth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Amyntas Dafnis. Lavrio will meet at home Panelefsiniakos (#6) in the next round. AEK/Argous will play against Near East in Kesariani and hope to secure a win.
