No shocking result in a game when first ranked Maccabi T-A (22-1) edged 9th ranked Maccabi Haifa (6-17) in Tel-Aviv 98-95 on Sunday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 34-24. But Maccabi Haifa won second period 26-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Maccabi T-A won last quarter 21-20. They shot 61.4 percent from the field. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. Maccabi Haifa was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American point guard Jeremy Pargo (188-86, college: Gonzaga, agency: Priority Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 assists. The other American import swingman Chuck Eidson (202-80, college: S.Carolina, agency: Court Side) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. Naturalized American swingman Sylven Landesberg (198-90, college: Virginia) replied with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Tyler Wilkerson (202-88, college: Marshall) added 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) in the effort for Maccabi Haifa. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Maccabi T-A have an impressive 16-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 22-1 record. Maccabi Haifa at the other side keeps the ninth place with 17 games lost. Maccabi T-A will face Maccabi Ashdod (#6) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Maccabi Haifa will play against the league's second-placed Hapoel J-M in Jerusalem.
