Regular Season Round 28: CAI Zaragoza - Assignia M. 85-65
Date: April 3, 2011
There was no surprise when 15th ranked Assignia Manresa (9-19) was outplayed on the road by thirteenth ranked CAI Zaragoza (13-15) 85-65 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by CAI Zaragoza. Assignia Manresa was better in second period 17-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Brazilian center Rafael Hettsheimeir (206-86) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 5 rebounds and Argentinian-Italian guard Paolo Quinteros (186-79) who added 14 points during the contest. Five CAI Zaragoza players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international guard Roman Montanez (193-79) responded with 16 points and guard Jordi Grimau (195-83) scored 8 points and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. CAI Zaragoza moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Cajasol. Loser Assignia Manresa dropped to the fourteenth position with 19 games lost. CAI Zaragoza will face higher ranked Bizkaia Bilbao (#5) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Assignia Manresa will play against Caja Laboral (#4) having rather not much hope for a victory.
