There was a small surprise when sixteenth ranked Meridiano Alicante (8-20) defeated at home 14th ranked Lagun Aro GBC (9-19) 87-76 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Meridiano Alicante. Lagun Aro GBC was better in second period 25-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Kenny Hasbrouck (191-86, college: Siena) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and Lithuanian power forward Martynas Andriuskevicius (218-86, agency: Interperformances) who added 9 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side center David Doblas (206-81) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Andy Panko (204-77, college: Lebanon Valley) scored 18 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Meridiano Alicante maintains sixteenth position with 8-20 record. Lagun Aro GBC lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth place with 19 games lost. Meridiano Alicante will face higher ranked Power Electronics Valencia (#3) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
