Regular Season Round 15: Los Mochis - Guasave 100-98

The game between third ranked Frayles de Guasave (8-7) and ninth ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (3-12) was the most important one in the last round on Tuesday night. Frayles de Guasave was edged by Pioneros Los Mochis in a tough game in Los Mochis 98-100. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Frayles de Guasave won third quarter 27-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pioneros Los Mochis dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Frayles de Guasave's 52. Pioneros Los Mochis looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for American guard Detrick White (184-76, college: Mississippi St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists. Guard Juan Favela (183-91) contributed with 25 points for the winners. Pioneros Los Mochis' coach Ricky Benitez used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Rasheem Barrett (196-87, college: Auburn, agency: SportsList Inc.) answered with 19 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import guard William Funn (188-82, college: Portland St.) added 19 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) in the effort for Frayles de Guasave. Four Pioneros Los Mochis and five Frayles de Guasave players scored in double figures. Pioneros Los Mochis maintains ninth place with 3-12 record. Frayles de Guasave lost third consecutive game. They keep the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Nogales and Culiacan. Pioneros Los Mochis are again looking forward to face higher ranked Frayles de Guasave (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Frayles de Guasave will have a break next round.
