Second Stage Round 4: Cibona - Zabok 101-69
Date: April 6, 2011
Bottom-ranked Zabok is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their third consecutive match to fifth ranked Cibona (2-2) 101-69 on Wednesday evening. The game without a history. Cibona led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 64.6 percent from the field and made 29-of-34 free shots (85.3 percent) during the game, while Zabok only scored eleven points from the stripe. They outrebounded Zabok 27-15 including a 27-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Cibona especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. The winners were led by international swingman Bojan Bogdanovic (202-89) who scored that evening 30 points and 5 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and the former international guard Goran Vrbanc (194-84) supported him with 22 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Even 12 points and 5 assists by forward Robert Lez (200-79) did not help to save the game for Zabok. Guard Sven Smajlagic (193-90) added 16 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Zabok still closes the standings with three games lost. Cibona will meet KK Split (#5) on the road in the next round. Zabok will play against Alkar Sinj and hopes to get finally their first victory.
